Mazda Unveils 30th Anniversary MX-5

This week Mazda has unveiled its 30th anniversary, limited edition of the MX-5 roadster. First revealed to the world in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show, the popular two seater has sold over 1 million cars worldwide since then. To celebrate the landmark, and give back to its loyal global fanbase, Mazda have developed a model in a traditional racing orange colour.

Mazda are proving they have big future plans for this hit model. Along with the signature orange, this version will come fully equipped with aluminium wheels; Rays ZE40 RS30 to be exact. These have been made by Rays Co., Ltd. specifically for this MX-5 model. These forged aluminium wheels will have an anniversary badge showcasing the models serial number.

The 30th anniversary edition comes with more exclusive features. These include orange accents on the seats, door trim, dashboard and shift lever, along with orange brake clippers. There are also state of the art Nissin rear brake clippers and Brembo front brake clippers. Manual transmission models are accompanied by Bilstein dampers, the popular shock absorber which provides superior resistance to lateral forces. The high end Bose sound system is another standout feature of the 30th Anniversary edition. The “Autopilot 2” Bose models comes fully equipped with 9 speakers in this edition, along with Apple Car Play and Android Auto in select Markets.

Mazda have announced there will only be 3,000 units made available worldwide of the 30th edition of the soft top. We are expecting this MX-5 to hit our shores in the early part of the Summer, so keep an eye out.
